The Province held meeting to welcome Their Majesties King & Queen

Monday 26 May, 2008, 10.00 hrs, at Naresdamri Auditorium, Hua Hin Municipal Office, Prachuapkhirikhan Province, Mr. Panchai Bawonrattanapran, the new Governor, with Mr. Bonkarn Limpaphan, the Vice Governor, Mr. Phayung Yooklin, the Head of Prachuapkhirikhan Provincial Office and Mr. Prasit Boonlikit, the Hua Hin District Chief Office have organized a meeting regarding preparations to welcome Their Majesties King & Queen.

In attendance were directors of all government sectors, private sectors, representative from hotels, communities and schools.

Mr. Panchai Bawonrattanapran, the Governor, has opened the meeting and stated that according to the old plan, Their Majesties the King and the Queen would pay a visit to Wangklaikangwon Palace, Hua Hin on May 28 2008, so that the Province had summoned all concerning persons to this meeting to get ready to welcome Their Majesties. Mr. Prasong Phithunkitja, the Royal Secretary, recently announced that the plan has just been postponed because Their Majesties still have a lot of royal work to do and will return to Hua Hin later.

Anyway, the meeting had been held, the Governor then has used this meeting to brainstorm the next welcoming ceremony for Their Majesties. The Governor has inquired how well the Traffic Police officers and Provincial Electricity Authority are ready for the welcoming ceremony to Hua Hin Municipality. Then he has started discussion on how to organize welcoming rows on both sides of Phetchkasem road from the tunnel (Bofai Community) until to the Palace. The new Governor also asked about the custom of organizing welcoming row in Hua Hin. He said that there were two options for consideration: in standing or sitting posture. He has show an example of how the rows were organized in the North. The welcoming residents in the North were organized to sit in a row with lighted candle in their hands. The Governor has suggested to follow the example of residents in the North. He has suggested that the welcoming residents should be split into 2 rows on both sides of the road in a sitting posture, along 5 kilometers from the tunnel to the Klaikangwon Palace. The meeting anonymously has agreed.

Even though Their Majesties will not come to Wangklaikangwon Palace as planned on May 28, 2008, but all 8 districts are ready to welcome Their Majesties anytime. The Governor has emphasized the need for the traffic system and the law and order to be maintained in the area. This is the responsibility of Pol.Col. Kittiphong, Deputy Commander of Prachuap Khirikhan Provincial Police. At present all people in Prachuapkhirikhan Province are waiting to welcome back Their Majesties the King and the Queen.
