Foreign residents oppose transfer of Immigration Office from Hua Hin

Recently Mr. Hans Hakvoot, local developer has sent me e-mail about transfer of Immigration Office from Hua Hin. Shortly after I have found out that many other foreign residents who live in Hua Hin are against moving Immigration Office out of Hua Hin to Dan-sing-korn in Prachaupkhirikhan located 120km from Hua Hin on the border with Burma. The move was also opposed by hoteliers and guest house owners.

The move Immigration Office was scheduled for 20 March 2009, because owner of the house where currently Immigration Office is located has put this property for sale. He has agreed for the past two years for the Immigration Office to be located in his house free of charge.

I have has spoken with Governor Panchai Borwornratanapran about transferring of the Immigration Office. He was of opinion that if foreign residents need Immigration Office in Hua Hin then they should donate money for rent of the house. In my opinion this was not the right thing to ask for money foreign residents. I have consulted Hotline Newspaper staff on how to resolve this problem. We were looking for people who could help keep Immigration Office in Hua Hin. Finally I met Mr. Dinkie, who has Avalon housing project. He rents big building at Soi 23 not too far from the Index Store and he has agreed to provide 3 rooms for the Immigration Office.

I have called the Chief Immigration Officer Lft Colonel Anake Kittikorn and have informed him about new office. He in turn has informed his boss in Bangkok and informed that Loong Tuck has arranged place for new office. The Immigration Office will be located in Soi 23, close to Index Store for about 8 months. Then it will be moved to a new building in Ampore Yim which situated near the market.
