09 July 2008, Royal Thai Navy and Yacht Racing Association of Thailand, YRAT have made a statement on Hua Hin Regatta 2008 at Colonial Room, Sofitel Centara Grand Resort and Villa, Hua Hin. In attendance at the meeting were Vice Admiral Aphiwat Sriwanthana, Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Royal Thai Navy / Secretary of YRAT, Captain Sutheephong Kaeothab, the Executive PR. of YRAT, Mr. Chalee Jaruwat, Foreign Relationship Administrative Vice President, Mr. Remco Crosen, the General Menager of Sofitel Hotel, and Mr. Danial Schwalb, the representative of Siam Winery Co.Ltd. Vice Admiral Aphiwat Sriwanthana, Assistant Chief of Staff for Intelligence, Royal Thai Navy has revealed to press that Royal Thai Navy and Yacht Racing Association of Thailand have been holding this event every year. In 2008 the Association has send invitations to yacht clubs in 18 countries. The Hua Hin Regatta 2008 will take place during July 30 – August 3, 2008 at Hua Hin Beach (in front of Sofitel Centara Grand Resort & Villa Hua Hin, Prachuap Khirikhan Province). Mr. Remco Crosen, the GM. of Sofitel Hotel, has said that the hotel is ready to accommodate guests taking part in the regatta. Mr. Chalee and Mr. Danial have also declared that they are ready this year's Hua Hin Regatta 2008. 1. Occasion and trophies Hua Hin Regatta 2008 is an annual sailing event that has been organized since the year 2000 in honour of His Majesty King Bhumiphol Adulyadej who excels in sailing sportsmanship in Thailand. This year’s regatta, the Hua Hin Regatta 2008, will be specially organized as a competition for several Royal Trophies, namely: 2. Organizing Authority The Organizing Authority is Yacht Racing Association of Thailand (YRAT), in conjunction with the Royal Thai Navy, Tourist Authorities of Thailand and the District Authority of Hua Hin. 3. Rules The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing, the Rules of respective classes and The Sailing Instructions. 4. Events 4.1 Thailand Open Championship Optimist 4.2 Royal Vega Rudder Championship Laser 5.1 Entries are open to all members of clubs affiliated to YRAT, individual members of YRAT and members of Clubs and MNA as invited. 6. Schedule 30 July 0900 – 1800 Registration The venue is at Hua Hin beach, Prachuap Khirikhan Province, about 200 kilometers south of Bangkok. 8. Courses Regatta Championship courses will be trapezoid. A limited number of boats and equipment of all classes except Catamaran will be available for charter on a “first come first serve” basis. Self-provided boats and equipment are allowed and are subjected to measurement. The charter fees are as follows: 10. Scoring 10.1 The Low Point Scoring System will be used. 11. Advertising 14. Accommodation Competitors compete entirely at their own risk and responsibility. The Organizing Authority and any other parties involved in the organization of the regatta accept no liability whatsoever for any injury, damage, loss or claim whether personal or material, incurred by or inflicted to participants before, during or after the regatta.
