Hua Hin Regatta 2024

During 20th – 28th August 2024 Dusit Thani Hua Hin will be host to Hua Hin Regatta 2024. The resort was chosen by the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand (YRAT). This year’s Regatta will also be organised as part of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s seventh-cycle birthday celebrations.

This twelfth Hua Hin Regatta, organised by the Yacht Racing Association of Thailand in conjunction with the Royal Thai Navy, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the District Authority of Cha-am and the Provincial Authority of Petchburi, will see sailors competing for several coveted Royal Trophies, including The King’s Cup for the Royal Vega Rudder Classes; The King’s Cup for the Super Mod National Championship; The Princess’ Cup from the late HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana for the Optimist Championship; and The Queen’s Cup for the OK Dinghy National Championship – a boat in which His Majesty the King sailed single-handedly across the Gulf of Thailand – and a class in which His Majesty the King was a gold-medal winner at the 1967 regional South-east Asian Games.

NOTICE OF RACE
1. OCCASION AND ROYAL TROPHIES
Hua Hin Regatta 2024 is an annual sailing event that has been organized since the year 2024 in honor of His Majesty King Bhumiphol Adulyadej who excels in sailing sportsmanship in Thailand. This year’s regatta, the Hua Hin Regatta 2024, will be also to celebrate his majesty the king’s 84th birthday anniversary, will be organized as a competition for several Royal Trophies, namely:
Royal Vega Rudder trophy for varies classes from His Majesty the King.
Super Mod National Championship trophy from His Majesty the King.
OK dinghy National Championship trophy from Her Majesty the Queen.
Princess Cup for Optimist Championship from HRH Princess Galyani Vadhana.
2. ORGANIZING AUTHORITY
The Organizing Authority is Yacht Racing Association of Thailand (YRAT), in conjunction with the Royal Thai Navy, Tourist Authorities of Thailand, The District Authority of Hua Hin and Prachuap Khirikhan Province.
3. RULES
The Regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2024 - 2024, the Class Rules of respective classes and The Sailing Instructions.
4. ADVERTISING
Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
5. ELIGIBILITY AND FEE
5.1 Entries are open to all members of clubs affiliated to YRAT,
individual members of YRAT and members of Clubs and MNA as
invited.
5.2 The entry fee is Baht 1,600 (USD 50) per person.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at the registration.
9. VENUE
The venue is at Hua Hin beach, in front of The Sofital Centara Grand Resort
& Villas Hua Hin Hotel,Prachuap Khirikhan Province, about 200 kilometers south
of Bangkok.
10. COURSES
10.1 The Championship courses will be trapezoid. Except Optimist class
will be IODA course
10.2 The Royal Vega Rudder Championship course will be long distance course.
11. PENALTY SYSTEM
11.1 For Hobie 16 / Catamaran and Farr Platu 25, rules 44.1 and 44.2 are changes
so that only one turn, including one tack and one gybe, is required.
11.2 Decisions of the jury will be final as provided in rule 70.5.
12. SCORING
12.1 The Low point System will apply for the Championship events.
12.2 For the Royal Vega Rudder Championship, the Portsmouth Yardstick
handicap system will apply.
12.3 Four races are required to be completed to constitute a regatta.
13. CHARTERED BOATS
A limited number of boats and equipment of all classes will be available for
charter on a “first come first serve” basis. Self-provided boats and equipment
are allowed and are subjected to measurement. The charter fees are as follows:
Optimist USD 60
Super Mod USD 80
OK USD 75
Laser USD 100
420/470 USD 120
Hobie 16/catamaran USD 150
Farr Platu 25 USD 800
A damage deposit of USD 100 (Platu USD 300) is required and will be returned if no damage.
14. PRIZES
14.1 Beside the Royal Trophies, additional prizes may be rewarded according
to entry numbers.
14.2 Replicas of the Perpetual Vega Rudder Royal Trophy will be presented
to the winner and five runner-up boats.
15. TRANSPORTATIONS
15.1 From and to Suvarnabhumi International Airport:
Taxis and Airport Express busses between the airport and major hotels
in Bangkok Including Bangkok Central Railway Station (Hua Lamphong)
and Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal are available. Direct meter taxis
between the airport and the regatta venue in Hua Hin is also available.
15.2 There are 12 trains of the State Railway of Thailand between Bangkok
Central Railway Station and Hua Hin Railway Station daily.
15.3 Several bus services daily between Bangkok Southern Bus Terminal
and Hua Hin Bus Station.
16. ACCOMMODATION
Hua Hin District is a famous and popular seaside and tourist resort on the
western coast of the Gulf of Thailand. There is great variety of accommodation
facilities ranging from luxurious 5-star hotels to comfortable guest houses,
with prices ranging from approximately USD 25 to USD 130 per night.
The Naval Yacht Club Hua Hin, The Regatta’s Office, has also a limited
accommodation with a price of USD 60 per night. Relevant details may be found

Competitors compete entirely at their own risk and responsibility. The
Organizing Authority and any other parties involved in the organization of the

whether personal or material, incurred by or inflicted to participants before, during
or after the regatta.
